MTN Y’ello Initiative donates, Computers, other accessories to Lagos Library Board
MTN, a leading telecommunications company in the Nigeria has donated computers and other accessories to the Lagos State Library Board, Isolo Public Library branch.
This was during the launch of its 18th edition of flagship employee volunteer initiatives, 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign recently.
Items donated include a 5-All- in -one Desktop Computers, 5 Computer UPS, 3.5KVA Inverter, 2 Tubular Batteries, 4 Solar Panels (300 Watts), 3 Standing Fans and 1 5G Router with a 3- months subscription.
The campaign, themed: “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through Digital Tools”, is aimed at bridging digital divide and promoting digital inclusion in Isolo public library and its environs.
The General Manager, Global Sourcing and Supply Chain Management, Mr. Adeola Oduntan, at the event, emphasised the impacts Y’ello Care Initiative has made over the years since its inception 18 years ago.
“We are committed to giving back to the community in addition to what we do through the foundation” Oduntan said.
He equally commended the collaboration and support of Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Library Board, for partnering with MTN which he described as invaluable!
Oduntan explained that MTN chose Isolo Public Library as one of their beneficiaries this year for a three day training on Digital Literacy, Coding and Cyber Security for students and users of the State’s Library.
On his part, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, who was represented by the Director, Lagos State Library Board, Mr. Asimiyu Amoo Oyadipe remarked the positive impact MTN Y’ello Initiative would have on residents, students and users of Isolo Public Library.
Oyadipe reiterated that the initiative by MTN would promote academic excellence and technology advancement among students and youths in Isolo community, which would positively compliment the efforts of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration leveraging the 3rd pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S + Agenda, Education and Technology.
He however, appealed to MTN Y’ello Care Campaign organisers to extend this laudable gesture to other Public Libraries across the Five (5) Divisions in Lagos State.
