The Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have shown their dedication to developing international capital market partnerships. Their goal is to enhance Nigeria’s access to global financial markets and attract more investments.

Both NGX Group and SEC took part in the China-Africa CEO Dialogue, which occurred during the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha.

This event allowed African organisations to connect with Chinese companies, regulators, and financial institutions, aiming to create beneficial partnerships for both sides.

Temi Popoola, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NGX Group, stated that strengthening capital market partnerships is essential for opening new investment opportunities between Nigeria and China.

The NGX Group has been working with entities like the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange to help Chinese companies raise funds locally.

Dr. Emomotimi Agama, the Director-General of SEC, emphasised Nigeria’s commitment to ensuring a safe, transparent, and supportive environment for investors.

He highlighted how important transparency and trust are for gaining investor confidence.

The dialogue highlighted the vital role of capital markets in promoting trade, technology sharing, and industrial growth between China and Nigeria.

Both NGX Group and SEC promised to keep advocating for capital market diplomacy as a way to achieve sustainable economic growth.
